Very Sharp “Walking-Around” Lens. Canon’s wide-range image-stabilized midrange zoom is a favorite vacation and “walking-around” lens. It’s very sharp (even wide open), and the image-stabilization system means you can use it for hand-held shooting, even at slow shutter speeds.

Refined Features. Although not quite as fast as the Canon 24-70mm, the increased focal length, image stabilization, and lighter weight make it a better choice for many shooters than the venerable 24-70. It does exhibit some barrel and pincushion distortion at extreme range on full-frame cameras.
