16MP Live MOS Sensor. The G6 offers great still-image and video quality, courtesy of the same 16MP sensor included in the popular Panasonic GH2. While the multi-aspect feature didn’t carry over from the GH2, the G6 does have an updated image processor allowing better low-light, high-ISO performance.
Advanced Video Performance. The G6 offers a variety of frame rates, topping out at 1080/60p (28 Mbps/sec). It shoots in both AVCHD and MP4 formats, with full PASM exposure control. There’s an external mic input, 19-step adjustable audio input levels, and a wind-cut function.
Advanced Photo Functionality. The G6 uses Panasonic’s contrast-based Lightspeed autofocus system for fast, continuous, and highly accurate autofocusing. For times when autofocus isn’t ideal, the G6 offers manual focus that’s enhanced with built-in focus peaking. The 7 fps high-speed burst rate and quick continuous focus combine to make the G6 a great performer for action shooting. There are numerous auto and photo effect modes for beginners, as well as advanced custom control options.
Multiple Viewing Options. The 3.0-inch, 1,036k-dot articulating touchscreen rear LCD is great for both image composition and playback. The G6 also has a built-in 1,440k-dot OLED electronic viewfinder for those who prefer the “old-school” approach. For an even newer-school approach, there’s a built-in Wi-Fi function that enables wireless shooting with live view and camera control.
