While we no longer rent this used product, we do carry the Sony Alpha a99 II.
The Alpha A99 is Sony’s first full-frame SLT digital camera. Key features include:
Advanced Focusing. Housing a 24.3MP 35mm-sized CMOS sensor, the A99 uses a dual autofocus system which translates to fast, accurate autofocus performance, including a new AF-D mode that uses both methods at once for precision autofocus tracking. The A99 also boasts a dedicated AF Range Control button that allows the user to set autofocus range limits on the fly. Throw in the A99’s 6 fps continuous shooting mode and its normal ISO range of 100-25,600, and you have one of the most feature-rich AF systems for photographing moving subjects to date.
High-Quality Video Capture. The A99 is also quite the video powerhouse, shooting Full HD 1080p video at up to 60 fps in AVCHD/MP4 format for quick, in-camera recording. The camera also simultaneously exports clean, uncompressed video to an external recorder via HDMI. It includes both a 3.5mm mic input and a 3.5mm headphone output for recording and monitoring high quality audio.
Lightweight, Durable, Flexible Build. The A99 weighs a mere 1.6 lbs., yet it offers a durable, weather-sealed magnesium alloy body. It features the same 2,359K OLED electronic viewfinder first seen in the A77 and NEX-7, giving you a live preview of exactly what you’ll get once the shutter is fired. The large 3.0-inch 921K rear LCD performs well even in bright daylight shooting, while its 3-axis arm allows you the flexibility to position it any way you desire.
Standard ISO Hot Shoe. The A99 is the first Sony DSLR to feature a standard ISO hot shoe, making it compatible with a huge variety of third-party accessories such as strobe triggers and various third-party flashes.
Dual SD Slots. The dual SD memory card slots allow simultaneous recording of images to both cards at once. They also allow writing video to both cards at once, creating an immediate backup of all recorded video in case the unforeseen happens. For still shooters, the A99 also records its 14-bit RAW images (a first for Sony digital cameras!) to compatible SDHC/XC memory cards.
Battery Life. The A99 uses the same NP-FM500H lithium battery as its predecessor, which is rated at 410 shots per charge using the EVF and 500 shots per charge when using the rear LCD. For video shooters, you’ll see roughly 155 minutes of recording per charge.
Please Note: We are including a Sony Standard Camera to Auto-Lock Flash Adapter with the rental of the A99 to use older Sony flashes.
