While this Sound Devices field-recorder option is no longer available for rent, here’s a link to our current selections.
The Sound Devices 702 Field Recorder is a portable two-track file-based digital audio recorder designed for high-resolution audio capture. Key features include:
High-Resolution Audio Capture. The Sound Devices 702 Field Recorder features 24-bit/192 kHz capture and sports pleasant-sounding low-noise mic preamps with phantom power, limiters, and high-pass filters. It records its uncompressed PCM or compressed MP3 audio to CompactFlash cards for convenient, cost-effective file storage.
Versatility. As with other 7-Series Recorders, the 702 can be used as a stand-alone device; fed by numerous analog mic, line, or digital AES-3 outputs; or preceded by a portable audio mixer such as the Sound Devices MixPre-D field mixer. The 702 can be powered by either an AC adapter or the included Sony NP-F970 battery, allowing flexibility for use in portable and studio applications alike.
Durable, Compact Build. The 702 is surprisingly compact, given its raft of professional features. Its chassis is constructed of aluminum and stainless steel for high durability at a light weight. In fact, it weighs in at just over two pounds, making it a truly portable recording option.
