The Atlas Orion 25mm T2 2X Anamorphic Prime is a premium EF-mount lens that provides a cinematic, 2x-squeeze image with fantastic bokeh and remarkable flare, all while minimizing breathing. Key features include:
For Super 35 sensors; 31mm image circle
2x anamorphic squeeze and fast T2.0 aperture
109º horizontal field of view; unique flare and bokeh effects
Unified focus and iris positions; 136mm front diameter
The Anamorphic Look. The Atlas Orion 25mm T2 2X Anamorphic Prime provides a wide-angle view with a shallow depth of field that you’d expect from a telephoto prime. It’s capable of creating clean, oval-shaped “waterfall” bokeh and a spherical-aberration glow that you might expect out of more expensive anamorphics. It also produces a unique but well-controlled anamorphic lens flare comparable to what you’d find in a J.J. Abrams movie. Shining a light toward the lens will produce a wonderful blue-hued flare that goes almost edge to edge depending on light strength.
Extremely Low Anamorphic Distortion. This lens offers an anamorphic view without as much distortion as some other options. While its vertical field of view is the same as what you’d get with a similar spherical lens, it produces double the width of a traditional image so you don’t have to decide what to leave out of the shot.
Standardized Features. All the Orion Anamorphic lenses have the same focus and iris ring positions. This allows for super-fast lens changes just by swinging your matte box and dropping your follow focus without moving the rings’ positions. Markings in feet appear on both sides making it easy for ACs and focus-pullers to do their jobs. This lens boasts industry-prevalent 0.8 pitch gears and a 136mm front diameter, making it natively compatible with a wide variety of matte boxes and filters.
Compatibility. While this lens is designed for Super 35 sensor type cameras, the 31mm image circle may not provide full sensor coverage on all S35 cameras, depending on your recording format. If you have questions about sensor coverage, please contact us and a tech will be happy to help you determine whether this lens is right for your shoot.
