What’s New? Version 2 of Blackmagic Design’s Studio Camera removes its predecessor’s internal battery, making it even lighter and easier to transport. Looking for an updated studio camera? We also offer the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro and Studio Camera 4K Plus.
Compact and Lightweight. The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K 2’s magnesium-alloy chassis is lightweight and durable, making it great for studio and field work. Its small size makes it easy to transport, and means it’s ideal for sporting events, webcasting, reality TV, and close-quarters shooting.
4K Capable. The Studio 4K 2 stays ahead of the competition by coupling its compact size with an impressive Ultra HD image sensor. The 12G-SDI output can feed a 10-bit 4:2:2 signal to any 4K-capable recorder. Please note that the camera itself isn’t capable of recording internally at all.
Integrated 10-Inch LCD. The large built-in monitor’s 1920 × 1200 resolution makes it easy to view your shots while you’re shooting, even when you’re using extreme angles.
Intuitive Controls. All of the camera’s important controls are positioned directly below the LCD for convenience’s sake. You can instantly enable and adjust settings and features without having to menu dive.
Broadcast Connections. The broadcast connections are grouped on both sides of the camera body. Video in, video out, and power are on one side, while XLR audio inputs, the headphone jack, and LANC are on the other. This layout makes it easy to set up and change cables, and means that your cables won’t get in the way once you’re shooting.
Built-In Talkback Feature. The Studio 4K 2 also offers a fully supportive talkback function which allows you to listen for cues or take direction by plugging your headset into the camera while going through the SDI connection, an extremely useful feature when transitioning from camera to camera.
Illuminated Tally. This camera supports the tally SDI standard used on ATEM live production switchers, meaning that tally from the switcher is broadcast to all cameras from all of the ATEM switcher’s video outputs to the camera via the program video connection. The tally lights automatically illuminate when the camera is live, and they’ll stay on through multiple camera transitions so you can instantly tell which cameras are on air.
View Program Video. You can use the camera’s PGM button to instantly view program video from your live production switcher, effectively turning the viewfinder into a large SDI monitor. If you’re using the camera to record, the program SDI input will let you view playback from a local HyperDeck recorder.
Multiple Mounting Points. The bottom of the camera includes two 3/8"-16 mounting points, while the side and top feature ten 1/4"-20 mounting points, all so that you can easily customize your rig.
Micro 4/3 Mount. This camera’s Micro 4/3 mount lets you choose from an array of Micro 4/3 lenses, or use third-party adapters to mount DSLR lenses, PL-mount cinema lenses, or even B4 ENG broadcast lenses.
