The Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM is a compact macro lens designed for crop-frame cameras. Key features include:
Standard Macro Prime. The Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM is a 56mm-equivalent macro prime that gives you a 1:1 maximum magnification ratio and a 5.1-inch minimum focusing distance. It lets you capture life-size images of close-up subjects.
Macro Lite LED. It can be difficult to evenly light subjects that are an inch or less from the front element, so the EF-S 35mm features an integrated front-facing LED light to more easily light even skittish subjects. You can adjust the brightness level, and you can illuminate the left side, right side, or both sides of your subject. This light is phantom-powered, drawing needed power from the camera’s battery.
Stepping Autofocus Motor. The stepping motor provides fast, smooth, and nearly silent autofocus performance that’s great for still and video applications. You can use the dedicated focusing ring to manually override the autofocus motor and make precise adjustments.
Hybrid Image Stabilization. The built-in Hybrid Image Stabilization system helps to eliminate camera shake when you’re shooting hand-held.
Advanced Optics. The six-group/ten-element optical design includes a glass-molded aspherical element that helps to eliminate aberrations, and to improve sharpness and clarity.
