The DJI OM 5 Smartphone Gimbal is a handheld three-axis smartphone gimbal solution and the predecessor to the more compact and advanced DJI Osmo Mobile 6 Smartphone Gimbal. Key features include:
Up to 6.4 hours of battery life
Compact and durable design
Built-in 8.5" extension rod
Wide array of shooting modes
What’s Changed? The DJI OM 5 Smartphone Gimbal retains most of the features its predecessor the OM 4 with a few design changes. A built-in 8.5" extension rod offers more flexibility to capture creative shots, and a slightly smaller, compact build featuring metal joints provides both durability and ease of use.
Extended Run Time. The internal battery powers the Osmo Mobile 5 for up to 6.4 hours, and takes only 1.5 hours to charge, a full hour quicker than its predecessor. On top of that, you can use the gimbal’s USB-C port to charge your phone. This all gives you the freedom to live stream or shoot time-lapses without worry.
Wide Ranges of Operation. The OM 5 offers the same total tilt ranges, total pan ranges, and portrait-orientation support as the previous model.
ActiveTrack. The gimbal’s upgraded ActiveTrack function can automatically track body shapes to track human subjects without the need to make a manual selection.
Gimbal Configurations. The gimbal can be used in Landscape, Portrait, Underslung, or Flashlight Mode. Underslung mode allows for low-angle shots, Flashlight mode works with the entire unit in a more horizontal configuration, while Landscape and Portrait modes allow you to adapt the phone’s orientation.
Shooting Styles. You can add pans and tilts to time-lapse shots—no special equipment required. It’s as simple as selecting the position where the camera movement will start and then where you want it to stop. If you want to take an epic panoramic image, the OM 5 can stitch one together for you from nine separate shots.
Additional Modes. The DJI MIMO app gives you access to numerous shooting modes, including Time-Lapse, Motion Time-Lapse, Hyperlapse, Panorama, Long Exposure, and LightTrail.
