While this used Leica lens option is no longer available for rent, here’s a link to our current selections.
Optimized for digital M cameras
Outstanding image quality across the aperture range
Floating element design to ensure high resolution
“6-bit” coding stores lens information in image metadata
The used Leica 24mm f/1.4 Summilux M ASPH is a wide-angle lens designed for high-speed performance. Key features include:
Dynamic Wide-Angle View. The Leica 24mm f/1.4 Summilux M ASPH’s wide-angle view makes it possible to work efficiently in cramped quarters. It adds a dynamic feeling to close-up pictures and gives landscape photographs significantly more depth.
Outstanding Image Quality. The lens is optimized for use with digital M cameras, and will hardly show any light falloff when set to its widest aperture. Even when used with a 35mm system, stopping this lens down to f/2.8 will lead to outstanding image quality. The bright f/1.4 aperture allows for an extremely shallow depth of field. At a medium f/stop, its focal range means that entire scenes can be reproduced sharply. This lens’s floating element design ensures that it retains high resolution even in the close-up range.
6-Bit Coding. This lens features “6-bit” coding, which allows the digital M camera to read this information optically and to identify which lens is being used. The camera can then apply optional “final-stage” software-based vignetting correction. For RAW images, the camera simply records the lens you’re using without making any changes.
Built-In Finder Lines. While many people simply use the widest built-in finder lines when shooting this lens, you may want to consider an external viewfinder.
