You can be sure that everything in your scene, from close-up candlelight to brilliant sunlight, appears true to life and the skin tones of your on-screen talent are rendered perfectly.
Lightweight Design – Industrial Strength. Tough enough to meet the rigorous demands of daily set life in the studio or on location, the compact and lightweight Gemini weighs just 13.2lbs/6kg for rapid rigging and easy transportation. Manufactured to industrial standards using durable, robust materials, Gemini is designed to protect your investment for years so you can rely on Gemini 1×1 Hard to work first time, every time.
Gemini Hard, A True Hard Light. Gemini 1×1 Hard uses non-diffused, lensed LEDs to cast an intense beam of light further than any other 1×1 RGBWW panel. Because it uses multiple LEDs over a larger surface area, it will cast a different, slightly softer shadow to a single source light such as an HMI. However, its output is greater than a 200W HMI and this allows it to be used in a similar way to many hard lights that are then diffused, plus it has the added benefit of being usable on talent even without diffusion where necessary. We also carry the Litepanels Gemini 1×1 RGBWWLED Soft Panel if you need a softer alternative.

When it comes to LED lighting for video and photo, there’s ALWAYS something new to test and try in the hope that it’ll be the last light you ever need. One might also say that you can never have enough lights, which is why I’m sometimes skeptical of the next new thing. But if I had to choose just one LED panel, this one just shot to the top of my list. Litepanels has been an industry leader for years with standards like the Astra and Gemini, so when they improve on a product that’s already a bestseller, it’s pretty exciting to put it to the test.
If you’ve used the Gemini 1×1 Soft before, the Gemini Hard is nearly identical in appearance and operation—that is until you turn it on and crank it up. In a side-by-side comparison at full brightness, the Hard outshines the Soft in all settings including color intensity. Even when shooting still photos, one Gemini Hard was able to accomplish what usually takes two flood panel lights.
Pros and cons? Sure! It’s lightweight, compact, has Bluetooth control… and did I mention it’s bright? On the downside, some of the Litepanels accessories that come with the Gemini 1×1 Hard, as well as the yoke and frame, seem to be designed as afterthoughts and are not quite up to par for an industrial-strength light. So many things seem cheaply made to me these days—it’s increasingly hard to find a bombproof constructed light that can handle years of professional work. Or maybe I’m just really picky when it comes to quality after trying so many products. In any case, I suppose portable, lightweight construction balances out the lack of a tank-like build. And even with these cons, this light’s capabilities really did exceed my expectations.
