The Nikon 24mm f/1.8G ED AF-S is a budget-friendly wide-angle lens designed for Nikon FX full-frame DSLRs. Key features include:
84º angle of view
Fast, nearly silent autofocus with manual focus
Great for architecture, landscape, and street shooting
FX and DX compatible
Wide-Angle Prime. Generally speaking, 24mm is the most common wide-angle focal length due to its balance of angle of view (84º) with minimal barrel distortion. It’s a popular choice for architecture, landscape, and street photography, but it can also be useful in any instance in which you need a true wide angle but don’t want massive distortion. While it was designed with full-frame FX cameras in mind, it’s also fully compatible with crop-sensor DX cameras with a focal length equivalent to 36mm.
Fast Aperture. The f/1.8 aperture offers depth-of-field control for creating subject/background isolation, as well as enabling low-light shooting.
Silent Wave Autofocus Motor. The Silent Wave Motor provides fast, nearly silent autofocus performance. The rear-focusing design plays well with filters, as the barrel doesn’t extend or rotate. The lens offers full-time manual focus capabilities for quick manual-focus adjustment.
High-Quality Optics. There are two extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical glass elements that combat chromatic aberrations and distortion while maximizing image sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy.
