Upgrades Over the D5500. The D5600 has a swiveling 3.2" 1.04 million-dot rear LCD touchscreen, with a new scroll bar that allows you to flip through photos quickly. There’s more options for wireless connectivity including NFC and Bluetooth. Nikon also added the time-lapse movie functions available on higher end models.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The D5600 uses Nikon’s SnapBridge platform to transfer images from camera to a phone or tablet. Using Bluetooth, you can quickly transfer low-res proxy files to share, tag your files with dates, times and locations, and operate remotely with shutter release and live view display. Wi-Fi with NFC is also available, which allows for sharing full-resolution photos and movies.

High-Resolution Sensor. The D5600 uses 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor, which skips the low-pass filter, providing sharper images at the expense of possible moiré. It has the Multi-CAM 4800DX autofocus sensor module, giving you a quick, 39-point AF system with subject tracking and subject identification. It has a normal ISO range of 100-25,600 and a 5 fps continuous frame rate for capturing fast action.

Flat Picture Profile. The D5600 offers the same video features as the D5500. Recording maxes out at Full HD 1080/60p a flat picture profile for more latitude in the color grading process. A built-in stereo mic, which includes sensitivity adjustment, enables quick and easy audio recording. For improved audio quality, you can plug an external mic into the 3.5mm input.
