The Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 ED PRO is a high-grade telephoto zoom lens designed for Micro 4/3 cameras and camcorders. This is the predecessor to the OM SYSTEM 40-150mm f/2.8 ED PRO Key features include:
Excellent for fast-moving sports and nature photography
Fast, nearly silent autofocus system
27.6-inch minimum focusing distance
High-quality optics and build
Fast Telephoto Zoom. With a focal length equivalent to 80-300mm after sensor crop factor, the Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 ED PRO sees your Canon/Nikon/Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 and raises you an extra 100mm. This pro-grade lens gives the Micro 4/3 system the one lens that has prevented sports shooters from flocking to other manufacturers.
Dual Voice Coil Motor Autofocus System. The Dual Voice Coil motors drive the two separate focusing lens groups, giving you the extremely fast performance that’s required for capturing fast-moving subjects.
High Build Quality and Optics. Pro-grade means pro build, and that’s what you’re getting here. The dust-, freeze-, and splash-proof barrel houses an advanced optical formula that includes one aspherical element, one high refractive index element, and five extra-low dispersion elements. This combination produces the highest image quality Olympus could squeeze out, with the inner zoom design keeping the lens at 6" in length. Additionally, a floating zoom mechanism allows an unheard of 27.6" close focus distance.
Other Notable Features. There’s a manual focus clutch that enables quick switching when needed, a programmable L-Fn button to suit your needs, and a removable tripod ring to help stabilize the lens over long shooting periods.
Teleconverter Compatible. Need even more reach? The 40-150mm is compatible with the Olympus MC-14 1.4x Teleconverter and Olympus MC-20 2x Teleconverter, which we offer as separate rental items.
Fragile Lens Hood. We seriously do not like the design of the Olympus LH-76 Hood for Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 ED PRO. Try as we might, they are extremely temperamental and highly prone to breaking both in use and in shipping. We have opted to ship the hood separately from the lens for this reason. Please contact us if you should receive a defective hood, and we will gladly send you a replacement copy.
