Fast-Aperture Fisheye. This professional-grade rectilinear fisheye lens gives users a 16mm-equivalent post sensor-crop factor focal length. It’s a niche lens—its 180º angle of view enables a truly unique perspective and makes for for some creative distortions. Its f/1.8 aperture is extremely fast for a fisheye, allowing use in low-light conditions.
Autofocus. The Olympus 8mm f/1.8 ED PRO Fisheye uses a high-speed imager autofocus system with fast, nearly silent performance. It falls within the Movie & Still Image Compatible (MSC) designation, meaning that it also excels in video applications.
Build and Optics. The dust-, splash-, and freezeproof design keeps you shooting even in poor working conditions. The built-in petal hood that helps to prevent lens flare while simultaneously protecting the front element. According to Olympus, the 8mm fisheye features one aspherical element, two super extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, two ED elements, one super high refractive (HR) element, and two HR index elements to help to minimize aberrations, distortion, and color fringing. Please note that a fisheye lens is extremely distorted, so don’t shoot portraits with it unless you want unhappy clients.
