Multiple underwater and macro shooting modes
Durable Construction. The Olympus Tough TG-6’s name is no joke. This camera was designed to withstand a range of adverse conditions, and can probably take whatever you throw at it. It’s waterproof-rated to IPX8 for use at depths of 50 feet/15m, it’s freezeproof to temperatures as low as 14°F/-10°C, it’s shockproof to falls as high as 7 feet/2.1m, it’s crushproof at up to 220 lbf/100 kgf of pressure, and it’s dustproof-rated to IP6X to protect its internal components.
12MP BSI CMOS Sensor and TruePic VIII Image Processor. The TG-6 is based around the combination of a 12MP BSI CMOS sensor and TruePic VIII image processor, which gives it the speed and sensitivity you need for photos and video. The sensor gives you clean images at up to ISO 12800, while the processor combats noise and expands the dynamic range. You get a 20 fps continuous shooting in RAW, and the ability to record UHD 4K30p and Full HD 1080p video at up to 120 fps.
Integrated 4x Optical Zoom Lens. This built-in 4x optical zoom lens covers a 25-100mm equivalent wide-angle to telephoto range. Its bright f/2 maximum aperture is great for working in low light, and the image-stabilization system helps minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 2.5 stops when you’re shooting at slower shutter speeds. A 2x digital teleconverter function extends the effective zoom range to 8x or 200mm in Program, Aperture Priority, or Movie mode.
Underwater Modes. The TG-6 includes five underwater modes to take advantage of that 50-foot waterproof rating: Underwater Wide, Underwater Macro, Underwater HDR, Underwater Snapshot, and Underwater Microscope. There are also dedicated Shallow, Mid-Range, and Deep underwater white-balance modes to help improve red and blue tones in your underwater shots.
Macro Modes. This camera excels at up-close shooting, and offers a Variable Macro System with four separate shooting modes—Microscope, Microscope Control, Focus Stacking, and Focus Bracketing—that let you capture subjects as close as one centimeter away.
Autofocus. The 23-point autofocus system offers fast, accurate, and quiet performance, and includes Face Detection AF, Focus Area Selection, and AF Tracking features. There’s also full-time manual-focus override with its own Manual Focus Assist and Focus Peaking functions.
Other Notable Features. The 3.0-inch 1.04m-dot rear LCD is plenty large and bright for image composition and review. Pro Capture Mode automatically sequentially shoots from 0.5 to 10 seconds before the shutter is pressed so you’ll be sure to get your shot. You also get a range of picture modes, scene modes, filters, and effects, in addition to in-camera time-lapse shooting with 1-second to 24-hour intervals for up to 299 consecutive images. This camera records images to SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, and an Olympus LI-92B rechargeable battery that’s rated for up to 340 shots per charge.
Bonus Item We’re including the Floating Wrist Strap for the Olympus TG-6. Made to keep your waterproof point and shoot camera afloat, the colored strap is easy to see in pools, lakes or oceans. A little extra peace of mind goes a long way.
