Normal-Range Short Macro. The Zeiss Milvus ZF.2 50mm f/2M for Nikon serves as a dual-purpose lens. As a macro, it offers a 1:2 maximum magnification ratio and a 9.4-in. minimum focusing distance. Printed magnification scales on the side of the barrel enable exacting adjustment. When you’re not shooting macro, the 50mm focal length offers a normal field of view that’s useful for just about any type of photography. On APS-C models, the Milvus 50mm will provide a 75mm-equivalent focal length.
Advanced Optics. The Milvus 50mm ZF.2 Planar continues Zeiss’s pedigree of cutting-edge optics. Largely based around the optics found in the Zeiss ZF.2 50mm f/2 Makro Planar for Nikon, the Milvus uses a floating-elements system to ensure consistent image quality when working with both close and distant subjects. The enhanced T* anti-reflective coating controls ghosting and flare for a color-neutral image that still flaunts that famous high micro-contrast “Zeiss look.”
High-Quality Build. The Milvus 50mm f/2M ZF.2 features a weather-resistant construction with internal seals to guard against dust and moisture, while a blue sealing ring at the lens mount protects the lens-camera interface. The all-metal lens barrel has a frosted, anodized surface for increased durability.
Modern Manual Focus. This fully manual-focus lens features a 303° focus throw and rubberized focus ring for improved tactile control, while still providing electrical communication with the camera to control aperture and communicate EXIF data.
Click On, Click Off. The 50mm Milvus f/2M ZF.2 line offers an aperture ring that features 1/2-stop clicks throughout the f/2-22 range, as well as the ability to mechanically switch to clickless operation.
