The Ricoh GR IIIx is a portable, fixed-lens compact camera that offers superlative image quality and quick response times. It’s a slight update to the ever-popular Ricoh GR III. Key features include:
24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor; GR Engine 6 processor
Integrated 40mm f/2.8 equivalent lens
Three-axis shake reduction, customizable controls
In-camera image editing; built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
What’s Changed? The Ricoh GR IIIx is a slight update to its predecessor. It boasts an improved GR Engine 6 image processor for higher-quality images, a newly designed 26.1 lens, and in-camera RAW editing.
Large APS-C Sensor. The combination of a revised 24.2MP sensor and the latest GR Engine 6 image processor gives you high-res 14-bit DNG and JPEG stills with impressive tonality and natural color rendering while enabling great low-light performance from ISO 100-102,400. The GR IIIx can also capture Full HD video at 60p, 30p, and 24p.
Prime Wide-Angle Lens. The redesigned 26.1mm f/2.8 lens provides a 35mm focal length equivalent to 40mm, making it a strong choice for street shooting, full length portraits, and outdoor architectural shots. The lens’s five-group/seven-element design features aspherical elements to maximize image quality while reducing optical aberrations and ensuring corner-to-corner sharpness. There are two focus modes: from 7.9 inches to infinity for working with general subjects, and a dedicated macro setting for close-up subjects from 4.7 to 9.4 inches.
Three-Axis Shake Reduction. The three-axis shake-reduction system helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake when you’re shooting handheld at lower shutter speeds. The shake-reduction system has been optimized for use with the camera’s built-in 26.1mm lens, and offers moiré reduction and dust-removal capability.
Large, High-Res LCD. The 3.0-inch 1.037m-dot touchscreen LCD allows for intuitive control during shooting, playback, and menu navigation. An outdoor-view mode lets you instantly adjust the LCD’s brightness for improved visibility in difficult light.
In-Camera Image Editing. The GR IIIx lets you edit your RAW images’ aspect ratio, recoding size, white balance, exposure compensation, and other parameters in camera. You can retain the parameters you adjusted after the RAW-data development is finished, so you can make minute changes to the already developed image.
Advanced Ricoh Controls. The GR IIIx’s rear layout should be familiar to anyone who’s used the original GR III. It gives you a large thumb grip, easily accessible control dials, and several programmable buttons that allow for a wide range of custom control adjustments. There’s also integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for easy file transfer, displaying a live-view image, changing select camera settings, and remotely releasing the shutter. This camera includes a rechargeable DB-110 battery that’s rated for approximately 200 shots per charge, it records images to SDHC/XC memory cards via a single card slot, and it has 2GB of internal memory in case you forget your card.
Compatible With the GT-2 Tele Conversion Lens. The GR IIIx is compatible with the Ricoh GT-2 Tele Conversion Lens, which extends the built-in lens’s focal length to roughly a 75mm equivalent when using the camera’s crop mode, or to about 107mm in its secondary crop mode.
