The RODE VideoMic NTG Hybrid Shotgun is a supercardioid-pattern microphone well suited for both handheld and boom-mounted recording where quality audio and value are both a requirement. Key features include:
Full USB microphone functionality
MFi-Certified for Apple iOS mobile devices
Directional Sound Pickup
Technology Ported from the NTG5
Uncolored Natural Sound. Despite the more traditional linear slots found in most shotgun microphones, the RODE NTG5 introduced acoustic perforations, and they make a return on the RODE VideoMic NTG Hybrid Shotgun. This technology provides a transparent, natural, uncolored sound. Without sound bias, the VideoMic NTG’s high-pass filter can be set to 75 Hz or 150 Hz to roll off low-frequency noise from common sources such as air conditioners and traffic with ease, and a treble boost enhances the high-end for maximum clarity.
MFI-Certification. Added compatibility with Apple iOS devices opens the door for headphone monitoring, two-way audio transmission, and High-quality 24-bit / 48 kHz digital audio conversion on Apple devices.
Headphone Monitoring and Variable Gain. While the RODE VideoMic NTG is in USB-mode, the 3.5mm output is free to use for headphone monitoring, without the need for any adapters. The VideoMic NTG also features continuously variable gain for optimized recording for any device. Simply press the dedicated button for the -20 dB pad to quickly lower the level to prevent any audio distortion. You can also record a “safety” channel, cutting out noises such as traffic or wind, by reducing the levels on the right channel while simultaneously recording on the left channel.
