Large Sensor. The 20.1MP 1.0-inch high-sensitivity MOS sensor enables high-quality images and video capture at higher ISOs. The large sensor and image processor come together to give fast performance, allowing 50 fps using an electronic shutter, 12 fps with a mechanical shutter, or 7 fps with a mechanical shutter and continuous autofocus.

20x Leica DC Vario-Elmarit Zoom. The integrated lens has a 20x zoom range, offering a 24-480mm f/2.8-4.5 equivalent focal length that covers the wide to super telephoto range. The relatively fast f/2.8-4.5 variable aperture gives you the flexibility to shoot in moderately low light when needed, as well as limited subject/background isolation.

Five-Axis Hybrid Optical Image Stabilization System. This optical stabilizer offers correction on five different axes, making the somewhat limited f/4 aperture at 400mm much more useful.

4K Video Capture. The FZ2500’s 4K capabilities have been expanded over those of its predecessor. The feature set now includes DCI 4K at a 17:9 aspect ratio (4096 × 2160). Frame rates include 29.97, 23.98, true 24.00p for effects work, and 25.00p for PAL shooters. The improvements extend to this camera’s 1080 HD capabilities—you can select frame rates up to 59.94, and you can select fast and slow motion from 2 to 120 fps.

4K Photo. Use one of three recording options to capture 8MP stills at 30 fps to find exactly the right moment in a scene.

Focus After the Fact. Post Focus captures a burst of images at 30 fps through the lens’s full focus range. On playback, simply tap the portion of the screen you want in focus and the camera will create an 8MP still.

Other Notable Features. The FZ2500 offers two methods to compose and view images: via the 0.39-inch 2,359k-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and via the 3.0-inch 1.04m-dot free-angle rear LCD. Both methods offer 100% framing accuracy and anti-reflective coatings for uninhibited performance in bright lighting conditions. Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity enables wireless image transfer and remote operation with a smartphone, and there’s a wide variety of Scene and Photo Style modes for in-camera capture.
