The Sony Alpha a77II is a crop-frame, semi-pro DSLR and an update to the Sony Alpha a77. Key features include:
24.3MP APS-C Exmor CMOS Sensor and BIONZ X Image Processor. This crop-frame sensor produces high-resolution images with great low-light capability at up to ISO 25,600. Gapless on-chip lenses ensure maximum edge sharpness, while the BIONZ X processor enables a top continuous shooting rate of 12 fps for up to 26 RAW images.
Translucent Mirror. Light is directed to both image and autofocus sensors to provide continuous phase- and contrast-detection focusing, greatly improving continuous shooting rate and focusing speed.
Sony A-mount. The a77II features the Sony A-mount, which accepts any of these lenses.
79-Point Wide-Coverage Autofocus System. The expansive 79-point autofocus array features 15 centrally located cross-type points for maximum speed and accuracy in the most used portion of the frame. An enhanced flexible spot function uses eight focus points surrounding the chosen point to maintain focus on moving subjects if the main point loses its lock.
Full HD Video Recording with Autofocus. The a77II supports Full HD 1080i/p video recording in AVCHD at both 60 and 24 fps, all with continuous autofocus capability. It has clean HDMI out for external recorder use, and the option of capturing audio with the internal stereo mic or an external mic via 1/8" input. Zebra and focus peaking enables you to watch exposure and focus more closely, and you have manual audio-level control.
High-Res Electronic Viewfinder Rear LCD. The 0.5-inch 2,359k-dot electronic viewfinder gives users an eye-level, live-view preview that offers 100% coverage, while the 3.0-inch 1,228k-dot LCD with 3-way tilting design is great for waist-level, arm’s reach, and tripod image capture and review.
High Build Quality. The dust- and moisture-sealed magnesium alloy body allows use in less-than-spectacular conditions, and the large ergonomic grip ensures comfortable use. There are 11 different customizable buttons with 53 assignable functions, and the Quick Navi Pro menu lets you access any other setting you may need to adjust almost as easily as an assignable button. The Multi-Interface accessory hot shoe is compatible with standard ISO hot shoe accessories.
Additional Notable Features. SteadyShot image stabilization minimizes the appearance of camera shake with any mounted lens. Built-in Wi-Fi allows wireless image transfer and camera control, with quick connectivity through NFC support. There’s a wide range of Picture Effect modes and Creative Styles for in-camera special-effect capture, Multi Frame NR capture for lower-noise images, and Auto HDR for in-camera HDR capture. The included lithium battery is rated for 480 shots per charge, and the camera records images and video to SDHC/XC memory cards.
