While we no longer rent this product, we do carry the RX10 IV. You may also find alternatives in the Recommended section on the left-hand side of this page.
The Sony Cyber-shot RX10 III is a high-end large-sensor bridge camera, an alternative to the popular RX10 II, and the predecessor to the RX10 IV. Key features include:
Massive Zoom Range. The RX10 III has a borderline-ridiculous zoom range that spans a 35mm equivalent of 24-600 with a variable f/2.4-4 aperture – giving you every available focal length from a wide-angle to a super telephoto. This incredible zoom range is coupled with 4.5 stops of image stabilization and a nine-blade aperture, giving you sharp handheld shots with very pleasing bokeh.
20.2MP 1.0-inch BSI Stacked Sensor. This technology improves on traditional back-side illuminated sensors by increasing pixel-level light sensitivities. The RX10 III matches its predecessor’s 14 fps continuous shooting and has an Anti-Distortion Shutter mode that tops out a 1/32,000sec.
Internal 4K Video. The RX10 III shoots UHD 4K video at up to 30 fps in XAVC S format (100 Mbps), using full pixel readout with no line skipping or pixel binning. The increased data throughput from the integrated DRAM chip also enables extremely fast Full HD 1080p capture at up to 960 fps. There’s full manual exposure control, a built-in mic for stereo audio recording, a headphone jack for monitoring sound directly from the camera, a micro HDMI connection for uncompressed capture via external recorder, and S-Log2.
Built-In Electronic Viewfinder. The improved 0.39-inch, 2,359K-dot XGA OLED electronic viewfinder provides 100% coverage with a live-view image preview. Additionally, the 3.0" 1,228K-dot tilting rear LCD is great for image capture and review.
Advanced Controls. Like the other models in Sony’s RX series, the RX10 III offers manual control options for advanced users, as well as iAUTO mode for those who just want to pick up and shoot. There are seven function buttons that can be programmed to offer quick adjustments of forty different features, reducing time spent in menus.
Built-In Wi-Fi. Allows wireless image transmission and remote camera control with compatible smartphones and tablets.
Rugged Design. Largely unchanged from the RX10 II, the RX10 III features top and front casings that are constructed from magnesium alloy, and the camera’s dust- and moisture-resistant design allows for shooting in rugged outdoor environments. This camera records to SDHC/XC memory cards, and the rechargeable NP-FW50 battery is rated for about 360 shots per charge using the EVF.
Please Note: Recording 100Mbps 4K internally requires a U3 SDXC memory card.
