4K Ultra HD Video. The Sony FDR-AX53 records up to 3840 × 2160 4K video at 24 and 30 fps in XAVC S. If you’re shooting 1920 × 1080 HD video, you have your choice of XAVC S at 24/30/60 fps or AVCHD at 28/60 fps.
Exmor R CMOS Sensor. The large sensor gives great low-light performance for a compact camcorder. In addition to video, you can also snap 16.6MP still images.
Zeiss Vario Sonnar Lens. The integrated 20x optical zoom lens gives you a focal length equivalent to 26.8 to 536mm at 16:9 and 32.8 to 656mm at 4:3. Its elements have a multi-layer Zeiss T* coating to help maintain high image quality by reducing flare and ghosting. It features Sony’s optical SteadyShot image stabilization with five steps of vibration compensation, which provides electronic roll stability for smooth video capture. This lens uses contrast-based autofocus and has tracking focus capabilities.
0.24-inch OLED EVF/3.0-inch XtraFine LCD. The high contrast 0.24-inch OLED Tru-Finder EVF has a 1,555K-dot resolution and uses four dual-surface aspherical lenses for highly accurate color reproduction. The large, 3.0-inch Xtra Fine touchscreen LCD offers a 921K-dot resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio for a sharp and bright image even in bright daylight conditions.
Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC. This camera’s built-in Wi-Fi and NFC support allows simple connectivity to a smartphone for image transfer, one-touch sharing, and camera control. You can also connect up to five compatible Sony cameras via Wi-Fi and use the FDR-AX53’s LCD to preview the synced cameras’ angles and to start recording.
