The Sony HVL-F43M Flash is the little brother of the Sony HVL-F60M and offers similar upgrades over previous Sony flashes. Key features include:
Quick Navi Interface. The Sony HVL-F43M Flash offers a much-improved menu system that allows you to easily adjust all of its settings.
Multi-Interface Shoe Connection. This flash uses Sony’s Multi-Interface Shoe connection to communicate with the camera body.
Guide Number: 43. This flash offers a powerful guide number of 141’ at ISO 100 and 105mm.
Useful Zoom Range. Covers a zoom range of 24-105mm with a retractable wide-angle panel for up to 15mm coverage.
Built-In LED. This flash’s built-in video light has a maximum luminance of 400 lux at 3.25 feet.
Other Features. Like many other flash models, the HVL-F60M can be used as a master unit to wireless control and trigger other compatible Sony flashes. It has a high-speed flash-sync mode for shooting with shutter speeds up to 1/4000th sec, albeit at a lower flash output. The HVL-F43M uses the Quick-Shift Bounce system, making flash repositioning quite simple.
Build. The dust- and moisture-resistant build is great for working in subpar conditions, and the included folding flash stand allows simple off-camera use.
Powered by AA Batteries. This flash is powered by four AA alkaline batteries. Please be aware that this flash’s full power-recycle speed is a slightly slow five seconds.
