The Sony PXW-FS5 XDCAM Super 35 Professional Camcorder is a professional compact 4K camcorder and is the predecessor to the PXW-FS5M2. Key features include:
8.4MP 4K UHD Super 35 CMOS sensor
Internal 8-bit 4:2:0 in 4K or 10-bit 4:2:2 in full HD
XAVC QFHD up to 100 Mbps or XAVC HD up to 50 Mbps
Continuous 30p in 4K or 60p in HD, plus super slow motion burst modes
Small Size, Huge Versatility. The FS5 packs a large feature set into a small form factor. It offers the benefits of a large camcorder in a package that’s closer in size to a DSLR. Weighing in at just under 5 lbs., the PXW-FS5 is a great candidate for stabilizers, sliders, and general running and/or gunning.
Smart Grip. Sony introduces a new version of the Smart Grip for the FS5 with full 360° rotation, assignable buttons, an assignable dial, and a joystick to enhance control.
Dual SDXC Card Slots. The Sony FS5 uses industry-standard SDXC media and offers a variety of recording options for file spanning and redundancy, as well as the ability to record proxy files with the same name and timecode as the main recordings.
Ultra-High Resolution. Future-proof your projects by capturing UHD 4K (3,840 × 2,160) resolution. The PXW-FS5’s 100Mbps XAVC (Long GOP) recording system provides a high quality codec, while still maximizing card and storage space. Please note that 4K recording requires SDXC U3 Speed Cards.
High Dynamic Range. Sony’s S-LOG3 gamma curve unlocks nearly fourteen stops of dynamic range in your footage.
240 fps Burst Mode. When operating in burst mode, the PXW-FS5 can capture HD at up to 240 fps and up to 960 fps with reduced resolution. Please note that recording time maxes out at eight seconds in this mode.
Built-in Wireless Streaming. Whether controlling via a smartphone or tablet, streaming wirelessly to a client monitor, or wirelessly transferring files to editorial, the PXW-FS5 XDCAM is prepared to handle all of your wireless needs with built-in Wi-Fi and Near Field Communication (NFC).
Clear Image Zoom. Extends your ability to get closer while preserving image quality. Once you’ve zoomed all the way in, By Pixel Super Resolution Technology can enlarge the image by additional 200%. It also works with primes, so you can zoom into any scene.
Center Scan Mode. Center Scan Mode selectively crops a 1,920 × 1,080 image from the sensor’s center, allowing support for traditional Super 16mm cinema lenses. This gives the FS5 all the characteristics of a Super 16mm film camera and avoids any vignetting. It also creates a Digital Doubler HD content, giving you extra reach when you need it.
