The Venus Optics Laowa 24mm Probe Lens for Canon is a long, slender lens designed for macro shooting on Canon EF-mount and APS-C cameras. Key features include:
Specialty lens designed for macro shooting
Built-in LED ring light to assist with close focusing
Advanced optical design; next to no distortion
Accurate, fully manual focusing
Canon EF Mount. This wide-angle close-up lens was designed for use on Canon EF-mount cameras. You can also use it on APS-C cameras, on which it’ll give you a 38.4mm-equivalent focal length.
Wide-Angle Macro Lens. The Venus Optics Laowa 24mm Probe Lens’s unique design gives you a larger-than-life 2:1 maximum magnification and a 0.8-inch working distance. As a wide-angle lens, it gives you greater depth of field than standard telephoto macros. This means you get less subject isolation and more background detail.
Virtually Distortion-Free. This lens’s rectilinear 19-group/27-element optical design keeps distortion at an absolute minimum. It includes two extra-low dispersion elements and one extra refractive index element, which help to eliminate chromatic aberrations, distortions, and color fringing. Additionally, there’s a built-in LED ring light at the front of the lens, which will help you focus at close distances. Do note using the LED light requires an external power source via micro USB input on side of the lens.
Fully Manual Lens. This is a fully manual lens that provides no electronic communication with the camera. You must manually make all aperture and focus adjustments on the lens itself, and lens information is not transferred through EXIF data. A dedicated switch lets you quickly de-click the manual aperture ring for smooth, quiet rotation that’s great for video.
