The Zeiss Milvus ZF.2 50mm f/1.4 is a professional-caliber, fast-aperture prime lens designed for Nikon F-mount cameras and update to the popular Zeiss ZF.2 50mm f/1.4 for Nikon. Key features include:
Excellent low-light performance; shallow depth of field
Advanced optics for high-quality images
Smooth, fully manual focusing with 225° throw
Durable, weather-resistant build
Fast Aperture/Normal Field of View. The 50mm focal length offers a normal field of view that’s useful for just about any type of photography. The f/1.4 aperture provides stellar low-light performance with a shallow depth of field. On APS-C models, the Zeiss Milvus ZF.2 50mm f/1.4 for Nikon provides a 80mm-equivalent focal length.
Advanced Optics. Don’t be mistaken; this is an entirely different optical formula from the old ZF.2 50mm f/1.4 Planar. One aspherical element and four anomalous partial-dispersion glass elements within a floating-elements system combat distortions and aberrations, all while retaining sharpness and clarity at any aperture or focus distance. The enhanced T* anti-reflective coating controls ghosting and flare for a color-neutral image that still flaunts that famous high micro-contrast “Zeiss look.”
High-Quality Build. The ZF.2 50mm Milvus features a weather-resistant construction with internal seals to guard against dust and moisture, while a blue sealing ring at the lens mount protects the lens-camera interface. The all-metal lens barrel has a frosted, anodized surface for increased durability.
Modern Manual Focus. This fully manual-focus lens features a 225° focus throw and rubberized focus ring for improved tactile control, while still providing electrical communication with the camera to control aperture and communicate EXIF data.
Click On, Click Off. The 50mm Milvus ZF.2 line offers an aperture ring that features 1/2-stop clicks throughout the f/1.4-22 range, as well as the ability to mechanically switch to clickless operation.
