The Canon PowerShot G3 X is a large-sensor bridge camera that blurs the line between a compact camera and a DSLR. Key features include:
20.2MP 1-Inch High-Sensitivity CMOS Sensor. Also found in the more compact Canon PowerShot G7 X, this large, high-resolution sensor offers great image quality in a wide variety of shooting conditions. The DiG!C 6 Image Processor provides quick handling, with fast autofocus that offers 31 focus points and up to 5.9 fps continuous shooting rate that’s not limited by a buffer.
25x Optical Zoom. The G3 X offers an impressive 24-600mm equivalent focal length after sensor-crop factor, giving users a true all-in-one camera. While the variable f/2.8-5.6 aperture can be limiting in low light, built-in optical image stabilization helps to alleviate camera shake at slower shutter speeds.
Full HD Video. Like the G7 X, the G3 X captures Full HD 1080p video at 60 fps in the MP4 format. It has a built-in stereo microphone for audio capture, headphone jack for audio monitoring, and manual control capability during recording.
Build and Control. The G3X’s weather-sealed, magnesium-alloy body offers a build quality that’s usually found in higher quality DSLRs. There are physical controls and dials just like a DSLR, allowing fully manual operation when desired. The large 3.2-inch 1.62M-dot rear LCD has both 180º tilting capability and touchscreen function, and the optional EVF-DC1 Electronic Viewfinder (separate rental item) gives the option for eye-level shooting.
Other Notable Features. Built-in wi-fi with NFC provides fast connectivity to a smartphone for image transfer and review, as well as camera control. There’s a dedicated Mobile Device Connect button that will automatically fire up the installed app on your smartphone when connected, and the built-in pop-up flash provides fast, simple fill. The camera records its RAW/JPEG images and video to SDHC/XC memory cards (separate rental item), and the included rechargeable battery is rated for 300 shots per charge.
