Versatile Telephoto Zoom. With a focal length equivalent to 88-336mm after sensor-crop factor, the RF-S 55-210mm offers serious range. Its telephoto zoom range is ideal for sports, wildlife, landscape, portrait, and travel photography, among other applications. Its variable f/5-7.1 aperture isn’t going to give you much flexibility in very low light, so it’s probably not the best for night shoots. It boasts a 2.3-foot minimum focusing distance that lets you get reasonably close to your subject.

High-Quality Optics. The RF-S 55-210mm’s eight-group/eleven-element optical design uses two Ultra Low Dispersion elements to produce sharp images across the frame while controlling chromatic aberrations and distortions. A combination of optimal lens placement and coated elements help to reduce lens flare and ghosting.

Optical Image Stabilization. The optical image stabilizer offers up to 4.5 stops of correction on its own, which will help compensate for hand-held photography and shooting in low light. When you pair this lens with an EOS-R camera that has in-body image stabilization (IBIS), you get up to 7 stops of correction for even greater performance without the need to up the ISO or decrease shutter speed.

Stepping Motor Autofocus System. The RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM‘s built-in stepping autofocus motor provides fast and smooth continuous autofocus performance in both still and video shooting. It also offers full-time manual focus adjustment.
