Camera & Gimbal Only. The DJI Zenmuse X5S camera is a high-quality miniature camera system mounted on a three-axis gimbal with a Micro 4/3 sized sensor. The camera is only compatible with Inspire 2 drones as of this writing and uses a selection of compatible third-party M43 lenses. You will need your own Inspire 2 to make use of the X5S camera. We also rent a DJI Inspire 2 Premium Combo w/ Zenmuse X5S if you’d like to get both pieces from us.

Professional Quality Codecs. The X5S is capable of recording in 5.2K CinemaDNG on Inspire 2 drones with the RAW license upgrade and in 5.2K ProRes on Inspire 2 drones with ProRes license upgrade. If you have neither of these upgrades installed, you’ll be limited to DCI 4K resolution in an H.265 codec.

Wide Dynamic Range. The X5S sensor is capable of capturing an impressive 12.8 stops of dynamic range which will give you lots of room to work with color, highlights, and shadows in post. This is especially true when recording to CinemaDNG.

Lens Compatibility. DJI selected a Micro Four Thirds sensor and mount for the X5S making it compatible with a small selection of M43 lenses. You can find a list of compatible lenses in the “Recommended” column of this page. We do not recommend using this gimbal with lenses that are not on DJI’s compatible lens list.
