The Fuji X30 is an enthusiast-level compact camera and an update to the Fuji X20. Key features include:
12MP 2/3-Inch X-Trans CMOS II Sensor. Using the same sensor as its predecessor, the X30 produces high-quality images with very good ISO performance for a point-and-shoot. It shoots both RAW and JPEG images, with a wide variety of very good film-simulation modes when shooting JPEG.
28-112mm f/2.0-2.8 Equivalent Lens. The integrated lens covers the wide to short telephoto focal range, providing what most people would need for a “general-purpose” lens. The fast f/2-2.8 aperture enables good low-light shooting capability, with shallow depth-of-field control at the telephoto end. The addition of a programmable control ring around the lens is a very useful upgrade over the X20.
Intelligent Hybrid Autofocus. The on-sensor focus system uses contrast and phase-detection autofocus, providing fast, accurate performance in a wide variety of shooting situations.
Electronic Viewfinder. The X30’s large 2.36m-dot organic EL viewfinder is a huge upgrade over the X20’s tunnel-vision optical viewfinder. You get 100% frame coverage, a very fast refresh rate, and the nifty rotating shooting-info layout when shooting in portrait orientation.
Advanced Design. With its multiple programmable buttons and manual control dials, the X30 has enthusiasts and professionals set as its target market. The tilting 3-inch 1.04m-dot LCD is great for shooting waist-level or from a tripod, and built-in Wi-Fi allows you to transfer images and control the camera from a smartphone. The X30 records images to SDHC/XC memory cards, and the switch to the NP-95 rechargeable battery offers an improved 470 shots per charge.
