The GoPro HERO12 Black is an update to the previous-generation HERO11 Black. It features improved battery life and expanded Bluetooth capabilities. Key features include:
What’s New? The GoPro HERO12 Black offers a few different upgrades to its predecessor, the HERO11, including improved battery life, HyperSmooth 6.0 technology, and expanded Bluetooth capabilities. Improved HyperSmooth 6.0 image stabilization ensures more steady footage while not using a gimbal and includes horizon-lock technology that helps ensure your video is lined up properly. When you need extra support, this GoPro is compatible with the same hinge-style accessories as GoPros past and does not require a frame or case thanks to the mounting fingers that tuck into the bottom of the housing. High Quality, HyperSmooth. With this HERO12, you have the ability to enable HDR for both photo and video to get more precise detail in your shadows and highlights. This unit will allow you to capture 5.3K60 video or up to 27MP RAW photos that are guaranteed to be crisp and detailed, and will also record 2.7K video at a 240 frame rate for playback at 8x slow motion. The upgraded HyperSmooth 6.0 now features AutoBoost, which reduces image cropping that might have a negative effect on your framing. When in motion, your image remains steady and level thanks to 360° Horizon Lock.
Bluetooth and Camera Control. Improved Bluetooth capabilities allow you to connect a microphone for more precise audio, or wireless headphones to unlock voice controls and monitor audio. The HERO12 offers two control modes: easy control for a more point-and-shoot approach, and pro control for fine tuning all settings, features, and modes, which you can then set as a preset.
Feature Rich Filming Compared to its predecessor, the HERO12 actually doubles the battery life. This adjustment allows you to record continuous 5.3K60 footage for 70 minutes or 1080p30 video for over 1.5 hours! There’s plenty of nifty features compiled into this camera, but one of the more notable features is Hindsight. This tool will capture up to 30 second of footage before you even hit record, so even if you fumble hitting record on time, there’s a good chance you still got the shot you wanted.
Same App and Shooting Options. While it’s worth noting that the Hypersmooth image-stabilization system has been improved, GoPro’s smartphone apps remain largely unchanged for the HERO12 camera and offer familiar features like TimeWarp, HDR photos, and night lapse video while letting users control shooting modes like burst and scheduled capture. Photos can still be captured in JPEG or GoPro’s RAW format.
To Wrap Things Up… This everything-proof camera makes for great content creation whether you’re biking the trails or swimming the seas. It’s weatherproof, waterproof up to 33 feet, and even the included battery features improved cold temperature performance. There are plenty of more advanced features available with the HERO12, like being able to choose between 8-bit or 10-bit color for smoother gradations in your footage, a HyperView digital lens that will take the 8:7 aspect ratio footage recorded by the new image sensor and deliver it as a wide-angle 16:9 shot, and the ability to connect your camera directly to your home Wi-Fi and automatically upload all recorded footage to the cloud.
