Great for portraiture, detailed studies, and reportage
Shallow depth of field and great low-light performance
High-contrast images with excellent color rendition
Edge correction for vignetting on compatible cameras
Fast Standard-Length Prime. The Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH’s versatile focal length is great for portraiture, detailed photographic studies, reportage, and just about any application you can throw at it. Its f/1.4 aperture enables extensive depth-of-field control and great low-light performance, while its eleven-blade diaphragm gives you pleasing, rounded bokeh when you’re shooting at middle aperture values. A built-in extendable lens hood shields the front element to reduce flare and ghosting.
Updated Optical Design. As part of the Summilux family, the 50mm f/1.4 features top-of-the-line optics. Its five-group/eight-element optical design incorporates an aspherical element to minimize aberrations and distortion while producing high-contrast images with accurate color reproduction.
Improved Focusing. This lens’s double-cam mechanism gives you an improved 1.5-foot minimum focusing distance that lets you get in close when you’re using cameras that feature live view, or when you’re using the Leica Visoflex 2 Electronic Viewfinder or the Leica FOTOS app. The 50mm still only supports rangefinder focusing down to 2.3 feet, and you must use live-view focusing between 2.3 feet and 1.5 feet.
Optimized For Leica. This lens uses 6-bit encoding to provide automatic edge correction for vignetting on compatible Leica M-mount cameras. Please note that if you’re using this lens with an adapter on a mirrorless camera, the camera won’t transmit EXIF data.
