The Panasonic 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 S Macro OIS is a versatile telephoto zoom for full-frame L-mount mirrorless cameras. Key features include:
Versatile telephoto zoom with improved tracking
Fast, accurate, quiet autofocus; full-time manual override
Built-in image stabilization with 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 support
Compatible with full-frame L-mount cameras
Versatile Telephoto Focal Length. The Panasonic 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 S Macro OIS’s focal length makes it an excellent choice for shooting long-range sports, action, and wildlife with full-frame L-mount mirrorless cameras. You get 0.50x macro capability at 300mm for higher resolution macro images. Its f/4.5-5.6 aperture is plenty fast for daytime use, but you probably won’t want to shoot too much in low light with this lens.
L-Mount Alliance. This wide-diameter lens mount is a joint collaboration between Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma that’s focused on a line of premium cameras & lenses in a mirrorless format. At 51.6mm mount diameter and just 20mm flange distance, the L-mount is well-suited for fast-aperture full-frame optics with compact dimensions.
Improved Tracking. This lens combines half-macro and conventional tracking accuracy by increasing the zoom-position detection performance by three times, and wobbling control at 240 Hz means that precise zoom-tracking control is up to eight times faster during telephoto operation.
High-Speed Stepping Autofocus Motor. The motor provides fast, accurate, and nearly silent autofocus performance for still and video use. You can use the AF/MF switch to easily toggle between autofocus and manual focus modes, and you can use the zoom-lock switch to prevent the lens from extending when you’re not using it.
Optical Image Stabilization. The in-lens stabilizer helps to combat camera shake, allowing you to shoot at slower shutter speeds. It supports five-axis Dual I.S. 2 for increased stabilization.
Advanced Optical Design. The eleven-group/seventeen-element optical formula includes one ultra extra-low dispersion element, two extra-low dispersion elements, and one ultra high-refractive index element to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortion.
