Five-axis sensor-shift image stabilization
Nokia OZO audio with subject tracking
Made for Multimedia Content Creators. The Panasonic Lumix DC-G100 has a range of specialized features designed for vloggers and other multimedia content creators. Its 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen LCD and Dedicated Video Selfie Mode make framing and taking selfies almost effortless; its five-axis sensor-shift image stabilization system compensates for camera shake when walking or moving; its 20.3MP MOS sensor and Venus engine produce crisp, detailed stills and UHD 4K video; its three built-in microphones capture optimized OZO audio with subject tracking; integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth let you quickly and easily share photos and videos, and control the camera; and its compact, lightweight design makes it ideal for shooting on the go.
20.3MP Digital Live CMOS Sensor and Venus Engine. This 20.3-megapixel Micro 4/3 sensor pairs with the updated Venus Engine to deliver sharp, detailed images with high sensitivity, low noise, accurate color reproduction, and quick response times. You get maximum resolution with minimum noise, with an ISO range that tops out at 25600.
UHD 4K Video. You can record UHD 4K video at 24p or 30p at a 100 Mbps bitrate with an 8-bit color depth and 4:2:0 sampling while recording internally. You can also record video externally via the micro-HDMI with 8-bit color depth and 4:2:2 sampling. The DC-G100 comes with V-Log L pre-installed, which will capture a flat, neutral gamma curve that’s well-suited for grading. A dedicated Video Selfie Mode optimizes depth of field and uses Face Detection AF and AE settings to highlight your main subject while also configuring the sound pickup range to best capture audio from your subject.
Vlogging-Friendly UI. The updated UI was designed specifically for vloggers. Its REC Frame Indicator puts a red border around the image frame while you’re recording. You can use the Frame Marker overlay to highlight which portion of the frame will be displayed in a selected aspect ratio, making it a great tool for direct output to different social-media platforms.
Dual Image Stabilization. The G100 has a built-in five-axis hybrid image stabilization system to help keep your images clear and sharp when you’re walking, riding, or just working in low light. The in-camera stabilization can also be paired with select lens-based image stabilization systems to make sure your shots are steady and rock solid.
Depth From Defocus Autofocus System. Depth From Defocus is a fancy way of saying the DC-G100 uses contrast detection to acquire focus in conditions down to -4EV. There’s subject-tracking continuous focus for keeping up with moving subjects and face/eye detection capabilities for making portraiture easier. You also get full-time manual-focus override.
Post Focus and Focus Stacking. Post Focus records images as 4K MP4 files at 30 fps and gives you a selection of focus ranges to choose from. During playback, you can use the touchscreen to tap the specific area of the image you want to be in focus, and the camera will create an 8MP JPEG. There’s also a Focus-Stacking feature, which generates images with varied points of focus and combines them to produce an extended depth of field.
Nokia OZO Audio. The G100 incorporates Nokia’s OZO audio technology, which uses the three built-in mics to record spatial audio recording with improved richness and accuracy based on the location of the sound. You can manually or automatically configure the mics, and the Tracking setting works with the detected angle of view to deliver crystal-clear audio, making it great for selfie videos, interviews, and the like.
Viewfinder and Touchscreen. The large OLED live viewfinder has a 3.68m-dot resolution and 0.73x magnification that’s great for easy eye-level composition. You can use the 3.0-inch, 1.84m-dot rear touchscreen LCD for image composition, review, playback, and menu navigation. Its free-tilting and swiveling design lets you work from low and high angles, even when you’re shooting in vertical orientation, and you can set the camera’s Video Selfie Mode to automatically start once you rotate the screen forward.
Other Notable Features. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity enables wireless image transfer and remote camera operation, and a dedicated Send Images button on the camera’s top plate lets you instantly share images. The DC-G100 is powered by the DMW-BLG10 battery, which is rated for up to 270 shots per charge with the rear LCD, up to 250 shots per charge with the LVF, or roughly 900 shots per charge when you’re using Power Save LVF mode. You can charge the battery in-camera via USB or with AC power. The G100 records to SDHC/XC memory cards via its single card slot, and it fully supports U3 cards for 4K capture. The magnesium-alloy camera body is weather sealed against dust and splashes.
