The Pentax K-01 takes an alternative approach to the mirrorless camera system. Rather than create a new line of lenses, Pentax created a mirrorless camera that makes full use of their current K-mount lens selection. Thus, giving uses access to their small, stellar “Limited series” lenses. The K-01 is based around the high quality 16mp APS-C CMOS sensor that their flagship K-5 uses, providing extremely high image quality in a smaller, lighter weight body. With fully automated to fully manual control options, the K-01 is a great option for both beginners and seasoned veterans. It’s capable of capturing up to 6fps in continuous shooting mode, and features an 81-point autofocus system. The 3" 921K rear LCD with focus peaking allows for simple image composition, even when manual focusing. It has an ISO range of 100-25600 and built-in Shake Reduction image stabilization (4-stops) to aid in low-light shooting conditions. The K-01 offers a variety of creative modes and finishing options for in-camera effects without the hassle of intricate photo editing software programs. Images can be recording in either JPG or Adobe DNG format to SDHC / XC memory cards. As for video, you have access to full HD 1080P video at 24/25/30fps, or 720P up to 60fps, recorded in MPEG-4 with h.264 compression. The included rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated for approximately 540 images per charge.
