The 28-70’s zoom range, constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, and rounded nine-blade diaphragm make it great for portraiture, landscape photography, wedding photography, and photojournalism. You can also use this lens on APS-C mount cameras, on which it’ll provide a 36-105mm equivalent focal length.

High-Quality Optics. As a part of Sigma’s Contemporary lens line, the 28-70mm f/2.8 goes through rigorous testing to ensure high image quality. Its twelve-group/sixteen-element optical design features two “F” Low-Dispersion elements, two Special Low-Dispersion elements, and three aspherical elements that correct for chromatic aberrations and color fringing while ensuring high image sharpness, clarity, and contrast throughout the zoom range. Super Multi-Layer and Nano Porous coatings minimize lens flare and ghosting, helping to provide high contrast even in strong lighting.

Fast, Quiet Autofocus System. The 28-70mm’s integrated stepping autofocus motor provides fast, quiet operation in a broad range of shooting situations, and its optimized AF algorithm helps facilitate smooth performance. You can also manually override the autofocus motor at any time by rotating the focusing ring, giving you quick fine-tuning ability. At the 28mm end of the zoom range, you get a 7.5-inch minimum focusing distance with a 1:3.3 maximum magnification, while at the 70mm end, the minimum focusing distance is 15 inches with a 1:4.6 maximum magnification.

Dock Compatible. This lens is compatible with the Sigma USB Dock for Leica Lenses (separate rental item), allowing you to adjust the focus limiter, autofocus speed, microfocus, and OS settings through the Sigma Optimization Pro software.
