With the versatility of a zoom and the optical quality of a prime, the Sigma 300-600mm f/4 DG OS Sports is a professional E-mount supertelephoto lens designed for sports and wildlife photography. It offers a large, constant maximum aperture while still only weighing a little over 8 pounds! It has internal zoom and internal focus to maintain overall length for easy and balanced handling on a tripod or even a monopod.
AI-Enhanced Features. Sigma has engineered an Intelligent OS2 algorithm that features a drive unit with a specially-designed actuator and high-precision sensor to meet the shooting demands of sports and wildlife photographers. It is equipped with an exceptional 5.5-stop optical stabilization system with a mode dedicated to panning. All of this is in service to a lightweight focus lens group with state-of-the-art glass materials for unparalleled optical performance in a zoom of this range.
Structured to Support Action. This lens features a variety of buttons and switches to meet the preferences of individual shooters while adapting to different situations out in the field. A function ring has been added for assigning two different modes: one for instant shifting to a pre-registered focus position and one for focusing with minimal movement when hand-holding. This mode is also helpful for video recording thanks to smooth focus shifting.
Physically Robust. The lens barrel is made mainly of magnesium alloy and the hood is carbon fiber to save on weight. The thermal insulation paint suppresses heat absorption and the overall center of gravity has been shifted closer to the mount rather than the front of the lens for better handling. The tripod foot’s rotation mechanism uses bearings for the smoothest possible operation and can be put into clicked and de-clicked modes for either a continuous or 90-degree-interval orientation changes. The foot itself is Arca-Swiss plate compatible and won’t require an additional plate when paired with Arca-Swiss standard tripod heads. Lastly, there is a standard drop-in filter slot for 40.5mm filters.
