What’s Changed? The Sony Alpha a1 II brings you the versatility of the Sony a1 with updated features, including an AI processing unit that pushes the boundaries of autofocus, subject detection, and subject tracking capabilities. This processing unit enables the camera to accurately recognize and intelligently predict the movements of your subject, all while retaining clear focus. For those intense movement shots during sports and wildlife action, Pre-Capture and Speed Boost functions are committed to delivering continuous burst-style shooting, allowing you to capture every moment. Additionally, the a1 II boasts a refined 5-axis 8.5-stop in-body image stabilization (IBIS), stacking an extra 3 stops to the performance of its predecessor. This feature builds on the already existing versatility of the a1 series, and allows you to shoot handheld in dimmer lighting conditions with slower shutter speeds.
8K 30p Video Capture and More. With familiar 8K 30p with 10-bit 4:2:0 sampling and 4K 120p with 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling, the a1 II uses its upgraded BIONZ XR processing and previously mentioned features to improve imaging performance and shooting rates. This camera is capable of up to 30 fps continuous shooting with an electronic shutter, or 10 fps with the mechanical shutter, with AF and AE supported. It retains the same full-frame 50MP BSI CMOS sensor as its predecessor, delivering a fusion of high-resolution imagery with the speed and reduced rolling shutter of a stacked design.
QXGA OLED EVF and Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD. The QXGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF boasts a high 9.44m-dot resolution and 0.9x magnification for bright, sharp eye-level viewing. Its 240 fps High Quality+ setting gives you smooth motion rendering. The side-opening, 3.2-inch, 2.1m-dot touchscreen LCD is great for easy, intuitive menu navigation and shooting control, and its articulating design lets you work from a range of angles.
Ports N’ Memory. You’ve got everything you need for transferring and monitoring right on the side of the a1 II: a USB-C port with fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds of up to 10 Gb/s, a full-size HDMI port, an upgraded 2.5GBASE-T wired LAN port, a sync port, and a RJ45 port. Of course, you’ll have your basic micro-USB and 3.5mm audio monitoring/microphone ports as well!
Other Notable Features. The a1 II’s updated menu structure is a welcome change from those found in previous Alpha-series cameras, and you can navigate the menus via the touchscreen much like you can on the a7S III. There are hot-shoe and PC-terminal external-flash connections, automatic anti-flicker shutter timing, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities for wireless image sharing and camera control, and NFC for one-touch connection between the a1 II and compatible mobile devices. The dual memory-card slots both accept CFexpress Type A and SD memory cards, and the camera uses the rechargeable NP-FZ100 battery that’s rated for 420 shots/90 minutes of recording per charge.
