Founder & CEO

SP stands for “Super Performance” and is indicative of a lens from Tamron’s high performance lineup.
Di refers to Tamron’s first generation of Digitally Integrated Design lenses featuring special multi-coating techniques designed to improve flare resistance and reduce ghosting.
VC is Tamron’s take on vibration compensation found in many other lenses from first and third-party manufacturers. This refers to the vibration compensation mechanism used to counter blurred lines that can occur with handheld camera operation, tele photography, and shoots requiring long shutter speeds.
USD or “Ultrasonic Silent Drive” is one of Tamron’s autofocus designs that uses ultrasonic vibrations and various rotors and stators to focus the lens, creating a fast and smooth autofocus drive.
