Fast Aperture, Short Telephoto. The 105mm focal length (168mm equivalent on crop sensor) of the Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus lens combined with the f/2 (T3.2) maximum aperture makes it an excellent choice for portrait work.

Smooth Trans Focus. The Laowa 105mm features a Smooth Trans Focus system comprised of two separate diaphragms and an apodization (APD) element. The APD element works similarly to a graduated ND filter—the center of the lens is clear, and it gets darker around the edges. The front diaphragm uses fourteen blades to shape the bokeh that the APD helps to create, while the rear diaphragm controls light transmission and depth of field.

Fully Manual Lens. The 105mm f/2 is a fully manual lens. You can set each aperture ring independently, while the focus ring provides precise control with a minimum focusing distance of just under three feet.

Optics. The Laowa 105mm features eleven elements in eight groups, including three low dispersion elements and one high refractive element. This optical design keeps chromatic aberrations under control and delivers sharp images with lots of clarity.
