Fast Aperture, Short Telephoto. The 105mm focal length (157.5mm equivalent on crop sensor) combined with the f/2 (T3.2) maximum aperture makes this lens an excellent choice for portrait work.

Smooth Trans Focus. The Laowa 105mm features a Smooth Trans Focus system comprised of two separate diaphragms and an apodization (APD) element. The APD element works similarly to a graduated ND filter, with the clear portion at the center of the lens, getting darker around the edges. The front diaphragm uses fourteen blades to shape the bokeh that the APD helps to create, while the rear diaphragm controls light transmission and depth of field.

Fully Manual Lens. This is a fully manual lens that provides no electronic communication with the camera. You must manually make all aperture and focus adjustments on the lens itself, and lens information is not transferred through EXIF data. Its minimum focusing distance is just under three feet.

Optics. The Laowa 105mm’s eleven-element/eight-group design includes three low-dispersion elements and one high-refractive element. This optical design keeps chromatic aberrations under control and delivers sharp, clear images.
