Zeiss’ 50mm Makro Compact Prime CP.2 lens combines the exceptional optics, color quality, and contrast characteristics that the Zeiss line of SLR lenses are known for, with fluid, protracted focus pulls. Geared focus and iris rings allow the CP.2s to integrate rapidly with follow focus rigs. Moreover, the lens’s Makro moniker indicates it’s ability to focus from as close as 10 inches away making it a go to lens for extreme close-ups. Unlike the other CP.2 lenses, the 50mm Makro’s 134mm barrel diameter makes it incompatible with any of our clip-on matte boxes.
