This included omnidirectional lav mic’s polar pattern gives you consistent audio pickup from all directions for reliable voice capture, even if your subject turns their head or the mic shifts positions. The Zoom F1-LP Portable Field Recorder’s on-board limiter and automatic level control keep sudden volume spikes from causing clipping or distortion.
Configurable Recording Settings. The F1-LP gives you a wide range of recording resolutions from 48 to 320 kb/s MP3s up to 24-bit/96 kHz uncompressed WAVs. A pre-record function captures roughly two seconds of audio before you press the Record button to make sure you don’t miss anything, and a low-cut filter attenuates rumble for the cleanest possible voice recordings.

Inputs and Outputs. This recorder gives you a host of inputs and outputs. You get a proprietary ten-pin Zoom mic capsule input instead of a standard mic-line input. A locking 3.5mm stereo output jack with its own volume control makes for easy routing to your camera, DSLR, secondary recorder, or headphones. Finally, a micro-USB port lets you connect the F1-LP to a computer for easy data exchange, and allows you to use the recorder as an audio interface with your computer or iOS device.
Doubles as an Audio Interface. You can use the F1-LP as a 2-in/2-out USB 2.0 audio interface at up to 16-bit/48 kHz. Just connect it to your computer or iPad, open your favorite DAW, and you’re ready to go.
High-Quality Design. This recorder’s 1.25-inch monochrome backlit LCD gives you your audio levels, recording time, battery status, and other crucial information at a glance, regardless of the lighting conditions. The built-in tone generator lets you calibrate audio between the recorder and a camera without an attenuator cable, while the Auto-Lock functionality prevents you from accidentally interrupting your recording with an errant button press. The F1’s minimal, lightweight build means you can easily clip it to a belt or waistband, or slip it into a pocket. This recorder is powered by two AAA batteries, which are not included with this rental. Lithium batteries will keep it running for up to 17.5 hours, while alkaline batteries give you up to 10 hours of use.
