The Wimberley Type II is a gimbal head for use with heavy super telephoto lenses.
The Wimberley Type II offers several advantages over generic gimbal heads. First, it’s quite a bit lighter. Second, the new knobs and knob placements are clearly sturdier and much easier to adjust (both can be adjusted with the same hand) with the lens in place. The knurled knobs are far, far easier to work with in cold weather with gloves on. The head weighs 3.15 pounds and stands 9.25 inches tall. It requires a 3/8-inch tripod mount screw.
