What’s New? This Atomos Shinobi II 5.2" HDMI HDR Monitor is the second generation of the Shinobi line, building off of the blueprint Shinobi. The Shinobi II now features the AtomOS 11 interface, Canon/Panasonic/Sony/Z CAM camera control via USB-C, a 50% brighter display, a slimmer design, USB-C PD power inputs and outputs, a locking HDMI and USB-C adapter, updated image tools, and the ability to run all day on a single, separately available L-Series battery.
Camera Control. The Shinobi II utilizes a USB-C port and 2.5mm LANC port to enable control over select mirrorless or DSLR cameras from Canon, Panasonic, Sony, and Z CAM’s E2 line. Once connected, a camera status display will pop up on your screen, giving you visual access to internal recording settings, battery status, and remaining recording time. Additionally, a thin red frame shows when the camera is recording internally.
Advanced Interface and Image Tools. The Shinobi II sports the new AtomOS 11 interface, which introduces an updated selection of advanced image tools to this monitor. With these tools, you have the ability to adjust your camera lenses’ aperture, shutter speed/angle, and ISO with its built-in exposure tools, such as false color, waveforms, zebras, or histogram.
Internal Features. With the available HDMI port, you can monitor your signals in various resolutions and frame rates up to DCI/UHD 4K30 and up to 1080p60. Two monitoring modes, HDR HLG and HDR PQ, enable a preview of what your camera’s LOG output may look like in HDR, but you can also upload up to eight custom LUTs to the monitor to preview your shots with your favorite looks. Built-in frame guides help compose your shots, with presets for 2.41, 2.35, 1.91, 1.9, 1.85, 16:9, 9:16, 4:5, 2:3, 1:1, 5:4, 4:3, 3:2.
Design and Power. With help from its slim exterior and lightweight design, you can easily mount this monitor to an arm or cage with its 1/4"-20 anti-twist threads. To power this monitor, you have a few options: the included USB-C cable and a separately available wall charger, like the ZILR 65W GaN 3-Port USB Type-C AC Wall Charger, an optional battery eliminator and DC/D-Tap cable, or an optional single L-series/NP-F style battery, like the Hawk-Woods DV-F990, DV-F790, and DV-F590.
