The Blackmagic Design PYXIS 6K (EF) is a high-end, next-generation cinema system designed for maximum compatibility. Key features include:
Full-frame 6K sensor with 6:5 anamorphic
13-stop dynamic range and ISO up to 25,600
Built-in live streaming support
In-body touchscreen HDR monitor
Exceptional Low-Light Performance. Featuring dual-native ISO at 400/3200 with a range extending up to 25,600, the PYXIS is equipped to handle nearly any shooting environment. This is further supported by a wide 13-stop dynamic range, rich color, and accurate skin tones. Special note: this camera lacks built-in ND filters.
Format Flexibility. The Blackmagic Design PYXIS is benefitted by a large full-frame sensor that allows you to work in a variety of film formats and aspect ratios, from open gate 3:2 to 6:5 anamorphic to Super 35. Shoot up to 36 fps using the full area of the sensor, 60 fps in anamorphic, or 120 fps in Super 16. Please note that this camera does not have a global shutter. It is equipped with a rolling shutter. Recording is done only in Blackmagic RAW (with H.264 for proxies) to Blackmagic Cloud, CFexpress Type B cards, external flash disks, or SSDs.
Fully Riggable Camera for Any Set. Blackmagic designed the PYXIS 6K with the ambition of creating the world’s most riggable full-frame cinema camera. It has multiple mounting points all over the body and two convenient mounting plates: a standard plate for attaching mics and accessories and an SSD plate for attaching a drive or your phone. The Rosette Plate for PYXIS 6K is available separately. The in-body HDR touchscreen eliminates the need for an extra monitor (though there are mounting ports for attaching an optional monitor). It offers access to all the settings, focus assist, the ability to display LUTs, and a wide range of other helpful screen overlays. Settings can also be accessed via physical buttons so that you aren’t reliant on the screen for changing important functions.
Streaming Support. Stream in 1080p directly from the PYXIS via Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) and Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) for stable, low-latency communication with YouTube, Facebook, and many other social platforms. Connect to Ethernet or use your 4G/5G phone for mobile data. Observe your streaming status directly on the LCD or pair this camera with the optional Blackmagic ATEM Streaming Bridge to create a wireless link back to the studio for your crew to keep up with live performances, corporate talks, and so much more.
Expansive Connectivity. The form factor of the Blackmagic Design PYXIS lends itself to a large offering of connections. It has two CFexpress Type B card slots (supports relay style continuous recording on the second slot, not dual-footage recording), 12G-SDI out, a front USB-C port (for an optional viewfinder), a back USB-C port (for external recording devices or a phone), Timecode, Ethernet, headphone jack, and a mini-XLR port with +48V phantom power for a microphone as well as a 3.5mm option. There are also built-in microphones with an extremely low noise floor and built-in speakers for quick playback review.
Lens Compatibility and Power. Both full-frame and APS-C/crop-frame EF-mount lenses can be paired with this camera thanks to its plethora of shooting formats, as well as anamorphic lenses. Powering the camera can be done via the included 12V DC power cable or with BP-U series batteries, which are available separately. A BP-U100 will get you about 3 hours of runtime.
