The Canon RF 20mm f/1.4 L VCM is an RF-mount, full-frame, ultrawide prime equipped with L-series optics for photo/video hybrid shooters. Key features include:

Canon RF Mount. The Canon RF 20mm f/1.4 L VCM belongs to Canon’s advanced EOS R line, which offers a wide-diameter mount that allows RF lenses to sit close to an EOS R sensor for reduced aberrations, increased sharpness, and better light-gathering abilities. Extra pins inside this camera line’s mount produces fast communication between camera and lens, which benefits rapid and efficient autofocus.
Optimized for Hybrid Shooting. Designed with both photographers and videographers in mind, the RF 20mm offers responsive AF, minimal focus breathing, and customizable handling. A manual aperture ring is de-clickable for smooth and silent iris pulls, while the linear focus motor allows for intuitive manual focus control. For autofocus, this lens uses a floating focusing system consisting of a Nano Ultrasonic Motor and a Voice Coil Motor to produce the right mix of speed and quiet performance.
Ultrawide Lens with Wide Feature Set. Despite having such a large max aperture and large RF mount, this lens is extremely portable and consistent with Canon’s other RF-mount hybrid lenses. It is just shy of 4" long and weights barely over a pound. It will accept both 67mm front filters and pre-cut gel filters via the rear filter holder.
Configurable Control Ring. Take exposure control into your hands, literally, with the Canon RF 20mm f/1.4’s on-barrel control ring. This click-stopped ring can be customized to a setting of your choice: shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation. This can be changed in the Custom Functions menu of an EOS R-series camera. This is a great feature for settings you access most frequently. To assign additional controls, there is also a mappable function button.
Try it with These RF-Mount Cameras. The portable nature of this lens makes it a great option for shooters on the go and pairs well with slightly more compact cameras like the Canon EOS R8 and the Canon EOS RP. However, this full-frame lens can be used with any EOS R-series, RF-mount camera. On a cropped-sensor (APS-C) EOS R camera, the Canon RF 20mm f/1.4 L VCM produces an effective focal length of approximately 32mm.
