The Sony LA-EB1 E/B4 Mount Adaptor for FS7/FS7M2 allows direct attachment of B4 lenses to Sony’s PXW-FS7 and PXW-FS7M2 XDCAM camcorders. Key features include:
For Sony PXW-FS7, FS7M2, & FX9 camcorders only!
Enables B4 lenses for deep DoF at high zoom ratios.
Supports communication interface of B4 lenses for Start/Stop & Servo Zoom operation
Add-on for Sony CBK-FS7BK ENG Style Build-Up Kit
B4 Adapter for Sony FS7- and FX9 Series Cameras. The LA-EB1 mount adaptor allows attachment of B4 lenses for shooting styles that call for deep depth of field even at high zoom ratios. Designed around the PXW-FS7 and PXW-FS7M2 ’s 2K center scan mode, lenses designed for 2/3" sensor provide corner to corner coverage with an F drop as small as 0.6 for bright images from the studio or the field. This adatper has also been confirmed to work with Sony PXW-FX9 XDCAM 6K Full-Frame Cameras running firmware version 3.0 or later.
System Compatibility. Compatibility with the communication interface of B4 lenses supports news production, just like shoulder-mounted camcorders. Recording Start/Stop can be performed using the lens-mounted REC button, while servo zoom supports one-handed operation. Lens information such as iris and focus can be displayed in the camera viewfinder and saved as metadata for use in post-production. Please note, this adapter does not support autofocus.
External Power Required. This adapter only supports lenses with serial digital communication and requires an external power source. At minimum you will need a Sony BP-U60T battery but we recommend powering this adapter from a CBK-FS7BK or XDCA-FS7 extension unit to power a lens.
Auto Lens Aberration Compensation. ALAC (Auto Lens Aberration Compensation) decreases chromatic aberration when using B4 lenses (future firmware version 1.1, anticipated early 2020). Using this feature will require DC power from a CBK-FS7BK or XDCA-FS7 extension unit.
E-Mount Compatibility. This adapter will physically mount to any E-mount camera. We can only recommend you use this adapter with Sony cameras featuring a locking E mount like that found on the Sony FS7M2. The standard Sony E-mount is not strong enough to support large B4 lenses and many B4 lenses don’t have a great way to add threaded lens support.
