Next Generation Sensor and Shutter. RED redesigned their KOMODO from the ground up by multiplying frame rates, expanding dynamic range, and improving overall usability. While equipped with the same global shutter as its predecessor, with the X you can expect better shadow detail and color while capturing 6K footage at 80 fps and 5K at 96 fps. In addition to recording in REDCODE RAW and ProRes 422, with the KOMODO-X you have access to ProRes 4444 for even greater color accuracy.

Enhanced I/O and Audio. 12G-SDI, full-sized DC-in, USB-C, CFexpress Type B compatibility, Micro V-mount compatibility, and an improved phantom-powered locking audio connector all help make the KOMODO-X as adaptable as possible to many kinds of workflows. The integrated monitor offers simplified control over settings, plus image previewing. You still have the option of directly mounting an external monitor.

Versatile Connectivity. The KOMODO-X is set up for any IP-based workflow, from VR to broadcasting. The USB-C port supports Ethernet (with adapter) and the built-in WiFi antenna allows for remote controlling of the camera with RED Control. Produce seamless 6K streams directly from the camera over IP using RED Connect and take command of multi-camera setups with accurate PTP or genlock syncing – all while recording directly to a networked device.

Access to Nikon’s Lens Collection. Marking the beginning of the RED and Nikon collaboration, this KOMODO is equipped with a reinforced, locking Z mount that supports advanced iris and autofocus response. It pairs excellently with the Nikon Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, which was designed specifically with the KOMODO-X in mind. The mount is also fully compatible with the FTZ II mount adapter for using Nikon’s vast selection of modern and vintage F-mount lenses.
