Advanced Optical Design. This lens’s eleven-group/thirteen-element optical formula includes three extra-low dispersion elements and an ultra-precision aspherical element that minimize distortion and spherical aberrations while ensuring sharpness and high contrast across the frame. Linear STM Autofocus. The 135mm’s Linear STM motor delivers fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus, and you can easily switch to manual-focus mode for greater precision. A focus-hold button lets you lock the lens to a particular focusing distance, a focus-limiter switch lets you constrain focusing to 27 to 79° for close-up shooting or 59 inches to infinity for standard shooting, and a custom switch gives you lens-based control over select exposure and shooting functions. This internal-focusing design means this lens maintains its length and its front doesn’t rotate during focusing. An astro-focus mode is designed specifically for optimal astrophotography performance.
